Rev. Jon Buchholz

District President

Greeting from the District President

Welcome to the Arizona-California District!

Our district includes over 110 congregations of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in six states and regularly serves nearly 25,000 souls with the good news of redemption and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

The office of the District President serves the congregations and communities of our district by:

  • Working with congregations to fill vacancies in the pastoral and teaching ministry.

  • Working with pastors and teachers to strive for excellence in ministry and greater service to God's people.

  • Encouraging gospel outreach in the communities where we live and work.

  • Fostering and encouraging the spiritual health of our called workers and congregations.

  • Supporting the circuit pastors of our district in their service to local congregations.

  • Overseeing and conserving the integrity of the doctrine and practice of our pastors, teachers and congregations.

  • Offering other support services for pastors, teachers and congregations.

  • We are privileged to work together in a common goal of sharing the wonderful news of God's forgiveness. Our sins were borne by Jesus at the cross, and in the gospel our Lord holds out the glorious message of immortality and freedom through Jesus. All of our ministry centers in sharing the love of Christ, a transforming love that changes hearts and lives for eternity.

Resources for congregations in the process of extending calls to pastors or teachers are available below. Please contact me with any questions you might have about the calling process.

I wish you the Lord's blessings in his rich grace and forgiveness!
